Young Children
How do you get gum out of your hair—a pair of scissors? Butter? The cat? Call your aunt, she’ll know what to do. She doesn’t? Try the fire department!
With each page turn, this situation—relatable to any family—grows stickier and more desperate.
With its big fun illustrations and hilarious rhyming text, this silly read-aloud will have kids and adults laughing.
What makes this book so amusing is how quickly everything gets out of hand. My favorite thing that got stuck in this girl’s hair was the two sticks of butter. I mean, HOW!? How would a stick of butter get stuck in your hair? It would not stick!
I want to be clear that, besides the scissors, nothing used in this story is remotely helpful in any way.
The lesson to take away from this story is that when you’re chewing gum, don’t fall asleep.
