Around the world, bridges, tunnels, and highways are constantly being built to help people get from one place to another. But what happens when construction spreads over, under, across, and through animal habitats?

Thankfully, groups of concerned citizens, scientists, engineers, and construction crews have come together to create wildlife crossings to help keep animals safe.

This book features illustrations of animals using real wildlife crossings built all over the world.

I enjoyed learning about the many different types of structures built to help animals cross busy roads. My favorites are the underpass tunnel used by blue penguins and the bridge used by thousands of red crabs. If you don’t believe me about the crab bridge, check out this picture.

Humans have already caused so much damage to animals and their habitats, the least we can do is build something to help correct the problem. Because being hit by a car is one of the saddest ways an animal can die.

I really enjoyed watching the animal crossing videos on Katy Duffield’s website. I especially loved the Montana one. The Canada one is way too fast.
