Charlie Thorne is used to being on the run. Ever since she was recruited by the CIA to track down Einstein’s most dangerous equation, Charlie—and former CIA agents Dante Garcia and Milana Moon—have traveled around the world to prevent history’s greatest discoveries from falling into the wrong hands. But after beating others to the secrets hidden by Einstein, Darwin, and Cleopatra, they find they are not the only ones searching for an immensely powerful discovery of Isaac Newton’s.
From a chase over the rooftops of Cambridge University to scaling the Sydney Harbour Bridge to skirting a volcanic eruption, Charlie will need to think one step ahead of her opponents to follow Newton’s trail of devious clues and keep herself out of the hands of the many enemies who are hot on her tail.
At the end of the last Charlie Thorne book, it was revealed that the next historic secret would be something discovered by Isaac Newton. The only things I knew about Isaac Newton were that he was seriously smart and a bad-tempered loner, so I had no idea what his discovery would be. I recommend reading ‘Who Was Isaac Newton’, as I did. It was helpful to have a general understanding of Isaac Newton’s life before reading this book.
In all the Charlie Thorne books, Charlie often provides an in-depth and lengthy explanation of the history of a person, place, or thing. I usually find the information given during these speeches fascinating. However, in this book, the info was a bit dry and dragged on for far too long. However, I did get a kick out of learning about the history of Australia and the Hawaiian Islands.
Unlike the last two books, we are given no hint on whose hidden discovery Charlie will be after next. I’m hoping one of the secret discoveries will be contact with alien lifeforms.
