Book Title & Alexandra's Review

Flowers are Pretty Weird! by Rosemary Mosco

1st Grade and Up

Warning — This book contains top-secret information about flowers! Prepare to bee shocked and weirded out by some of nature’s strangest plants.

Flowers are not always pretty and smell nice. They are so much stranger than you would think.

Narrated by a bee full of bee puns, this simple picture book explores the science of flowers.

I thought this book would mention plants like the Venus flytrap or the Corpus Flower, but instead, it featured flowers I had never heard of before. I’m glad I learned something new.

Here are a few pictures of my favorite flowers mentioned:

Large Duck Orchid

Monkey Orchid

Corpse Lily

I’d like to know how the author decided which flowers to feature.

An identification guide and fact sheet about some of the flowers are included at the end of the book.
