Young Children
Peyton is particular when it comes to food. But she’s not picky. Grownups use that word a lot.
Thanksgiving is our most universal holiday, beloved by adults and children. But Thanksgiving can also be a challenge for young eaters who struggle with new tastes and new experiences.
Peyton is determined to confront her fear of new foods by finding a Thanksgiving pie she truly likes, even if it’s flaky, lumpy, or chunky.
This book goes out to all the particular eaters out there.
I relate with Peyton. I am also very particular when it comes to food. Peyton’s Thanksgiving meal even mirrors mine: a little bit of turkey, a small scoop of mashed potatoes, and a roll.
Peyton’s parents ask the guests to bring a pie, and each one shows up with a different type of pie. There are ten pies in total. I don’t know about you, but I see many people going home with leftovers.
You’ll have fun learning about all the different types of pie and finding out which one Peyton decides to try. Out of all the pies in the book, which one would you eat? I would try the chocolate whoopie pie. For me, if a dessert doesn’t have chocolate in it, it’s not worth the calories.
