For Kids 5 – 8
If animals built your house, would you live in it?
Explore animal habitats and how they engineer their homes in this beautifully illustrated STEM book for kids.
Being an animal lover, this book’s cover and title caught my attention. And it did not disappoint.
I like how there are both commonly known animals (beavers and honeybees) and animals that kids might not know about (grey foam-nest tree frogs and satin bowerbirds).
When you first read this book, concentrate on the words and the facts. Then during your second read, focus your attention on the illustrations. Try to find the house from the previous page and the hint for the house featured on the next page.
I love how each house has its own mailbox. My favorite one is shaped like a fish.
The backmatter (the part of the book that appears after the main portion) includes real-life photos of the animals and their homes, suggested discussion questions, and more.
I recommend this book to curious and animal-loving kids.
